BBR’s Super 225 high power normally aspirated tuning package for 2005-2015 Mazda MX-5 2.0 models.
The ultimate non-turbo tuning package from Mazda performance specialists BBR
The package incorporates bespoke BBRDrive By Wire (DBW) billet 45mm DCOE Independent Throttle Bodies (ITB’s) for optimised induction efficiency but retains the OEM Mazda ECU
Produces a dyno proven 224 bhp @ 7550 rpm and 174 lb.ft at 5950rpm
OEM Mazda idle characteristics and electronic safety features are retained
Compatible with both LHD & RHD vehicles
Can be retro fitted as complete package or as add-on upgrade for existing BBR Super 200 customers
The BBR ‘Super 225’ is an exciting upgrade that is the culmination of many months of in-house mechanical, electronic and chassis development. Available as a complete package for a drive in, drive out installation onto the stock 2.0-litre Mazda MX-5, or as a retro fit onto BBR Super 200 equipped cars, the BBR Super 225 is the ultimate normally aspirated gift for the hugely successful NC model.
The complete BBR Super 225 DIY upgrade for the 2.0i Mazda Mk3 / 3.5 and 3.75 MX-5 (NC) models consists of the following components:-
The end results are a mighty 224 bhp (225 PS) at 7550 rpm, combined with peak torque of 174 lb.ft at 5950 rpm. Over 170 lb.ft is available from between 4000-6000 rpm, with more than 150 lb.ft on tap from just 3000 rpm all the way up to the 7800 rpm rev limiter (MK3 models limited to 7500 rpm) - highlighting the user-friendly nature of the conversion that is everyday driveable and ideally suited to town, touring and track days. In-cabin noise is acceptable for regular driving and motorway use, with a distinctive, addictive intake ‘bark’ being produced under wide open throttle acceleration.
Careful development by BBR has ensured that despite the significant performance hike the Super 225 upgrade is fully UK MOT emissions compliant and can run on either 98 or 95 octane fuel, while an optional BBR air filter is advisable for everyday use.
Priced at £3815.00 for a DIY package option (inc software), or £4415.00 for a drive-in, drive-out installation at BBR’s Brackley HQ, the BBR Super 225 package is on-sale now. Pleasingly, owners of BBR Super 200 converted cars can migrate to this new level of performance for just £2895.00 fitted. Similar levels of performance can be obtained using a 3rdparty tubular exhaust manifold if this has already been installed as a legacy upgrade.
